Governor Simon Kachapin has called upon the National Government to set up special funds for schools in marginalised areas to improve education standards.
Speaking yesterday during a fundraiser for Meshack Tumkou Mixed Secondary School ,West Pokot towards clearance of School Bus debt, Kachapin said most schools both secondary and primary in marginalized areas are yet to get modern classes , laboratories and even teaching aids therefore there is need to set aside the funds to give them facelift.
The West Pokot governor also said as enshrined in the constitution every Pupil in any part of the country is entitled to access quality education which is not the case in some parts of his county.
“We want the national government to set aside such a fund to enable marginalized schools who still study in mud walled structures get good structures to improve education in these areas ,” said the Kachapin.
