The elusive Rift Valley vote ,which is a swing vote to United Republican Party leader and Deputy President William Ruto is still up for grabs , despite win for Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) candidate in just concluded Kericho by elections.
Deputy President trouble makers for JAP’s affiliate party – KANU continue to smashup Deputy President’s ambition for Kenya’s top job in 2022.
The retired President Daniel Moi son Gideon Kipsielei Moi is the genesis of woes which have been considered by analysts an acid test for William Ruto.
Unwavering support by KANU, an old party in the previous by election in Kipsigis proved that it is still a force to reckon after battery of politicians from Ruto’s camp failed to clinch a clean sheet .
Despite vocal politicians among them senator Kipchumba Murkomen , Aden Duale (Majority leader) and Deputy President William Ruto ,KANU managed to influence a half of the Kipsigis vote .
Kipsigis fragile vote for William Ruto in the hotly contested senatorial by election between JAP’s Aaron Cheruiyot and KANU’s Paul Sang signified a protest by locals over DP’s led government ,discontent over abandoned development promises in the area.
But according to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen ,KANU party and the Chama Cha Mashinani led by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto are irrelevant to Rift Valley politics .
Murkomen has accused them for engaging in wars instead of giving the jubilee government room to develop the country.
Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Emurua Dikkir Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno have been the outspoken voices questioning the jubilee government over failure to fulfill the promises made during their campaigns.
Emurua Dikkir MP recently at Baringo tour with area Senator Gideon Moi slammed the jubilee administration for empty promises it has so far made to the people.
Mr .Ng’eno blamed Deputy President over for preaching cheap politics among Rift Valley leaders and attributed it on section of them (Jubilee) reason to ditch his camp.
