The County government of Uasin Gishu has distanced itself from fake notices circulating in Eldoret town indicating that it is planning to evict individuals occupying county houses and market stalls.

Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno claimed the notices were being circulated by individuals out to gain political mileage ahead of the general elections.

Speaking to the press at the County headquarters in Eldoret town, Chemno said the county has no plan to ask individuals occupying its houses or markets to move out.

Accompanied by Lands County Executive Commitee Robert Ng’isirey and his trade counterpart Phillip Melly, Chemno asked individuals in county markets and houses remain calm assuring that they will not be moved out.

He asked all stakeholders in the county to ignore those letters and remain calm.

The county has already reported the matter at Eldoret police station for investigations.

In the notices dated July 17, individuals occupying county houses and markets have been asked to move out by July 30th for what was noted as to allow for renovations and re allocations of the markets and houses.

The Uasin Gishu government officials said that the letters are fake without signatures of pupated officers from the county.
