Baringo South Parliamentary aspirant Amos Olempaka has called on Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to set up mobile polling stations in for displaced persons in Baringo due to insecurity.

Speaking on Saturday while launching his parliamentary bid in Eldume, Baringo South Olempaka appealed to the electoral body to ensure that the displaced locals in Baringo and Laikipia counties exercise their democratic right by setting up polling stations in the camps.

“More than 5,000 people displaced by insecurity and living in makeshift camps in Baringo might be locked out of the August elections if they will not be relocated back to their homes. The only way for them to vote is to set up mobile polling stations in those camps to enable them vote,” said Olempaka.

While drumming up support for National Supper Alliance, Olempaka also urged the locals to vote for NASA saying Jubilee has failed in providing security.

“We have incurred losses as result of Jubilee government failing to provide security for our people and NASA is an alternative government which will end insecurity,”added Olempaka who will be vying for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement Party.

Narok County senatorial aspirant on NASA ticket Ledama Olekina echoed his sentiments saying IEBC should allow the IDPs vote where they are.

“The electoral body should allow these people vote in the camps since the government cannot relocate them to their places because Uhuruto led government have not restored normalcy in Mukutani and other banditry areas ,”said Ledama.

Amos Olempaka will battle out for the seat with incumbent Grace Kipchoim, Kenya African National Union (KANU) Charles Kamuren and Maendeleo Chap Chap’s Cinthia Kipchilat.

The displaced persons by insecurity in Baringo are estimated to be over 5,000.
