Government has plans to ensure every local living in insecure parts of Baringo county participate in Tuesdays’ general election by deploying more security officers in the porous borders Principal Fred Segor has said.
Speaking in Ruth Kiptui girls –Kasok,Baringo North while handing over a new school bus Water Principal Secretary Fred Segor said that the government has placed measures to ensure no registered voter will be disadvantaged because of insecurity saying everyone will be accorded security during voting.
“We don’t want any to be disenfranchised as a result of insecurity of where they are as we vote, the government is committed in ensuring everyone irregardless of where they are participate in the elections,”said Segor.
The Ps also said Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will provide mobile polling stations for over 5,000 locals who were displaced due to insecurity early this year in Baringo South and Baringo North sub counties so that they participate in the elections.
“There are measures by electoral body to ensure those who were displaced by insecurity in Baringo North and Baringo South sub counties vote ,”added the PS.
Baringo County Women Rep aspirant Susan Chesiyna worried that many locals might be locked out in the exercise but called upon the government to beef up security in rustling prone areas before election and after election.
“Many locals might not participate in the elctions due to insecurity but i appeal to the government to deploy more officers in parts that have been witnessing attacks in Baringo county,”said Chesiyna who is vying for the seat on a Jubilee ticket.
