Baringo County is hosting Rift Valley Region Secondary Schools for Term 2B games that are being held in Kabarnet High School for the next one week.

Big names in the football games schools among them St Anthony Boys in football and Wiyeta Girls High school both from Tranzoia County, Cheptil girls High school and Cheptil boys High school from Nandi County will battling out to go home with regions title in Soccer, Volleyball ,Table Tenis, Badminton and Lawn Tennis.

Teams from the 14 counties in the region will participate in the event that kicked off today with an opening match of Olmoran Boys and Laiser Hill from Kajiado county where Laiser Hill thrashed Olmoran boys 3 -1 .

Last year’s champions  Laiser Hill have been pooled in group B with Chemase Boys (Nandi),Olmoran Boys (Laikipia)and Aiyebo Boys (Baringo) while St Anthony are in pool A with Ololunga (Narok)and Spotlight High School (Nakuru) .

In soccer girls, East Africa Champions Wiyeta will play Kilgoris girls (Narok) and Siwot girls (Nakuru) in pool B while Tartar girls from West Pokot will play Entarara girls (Kajiado),Poiywek girls (Kericho) and Gatero girls from Laikipia County.

Regional Education coordinator Mrs. Mary Gaturu in her opening speech said sports contribute to achieving one of the national goals of education.

“It is my sincere hope that in the course of the course of the championship you will find a conducive atmosphere that will enable the competitors to display their talents, “said Gaturu.
