A showdown is looming among Jubilee party and its affiliated parties during President Uhuru Kenyatta visit to Baringo County as Jubilee nominees have strongly come out to say the long awaited visit will be a jubilee affair only.
Speaking on Thursday in a strategy meeting in Kibelion hotel ahead of the President’s visit to the county on Sunday, the aspirants said no other aspirants from other affiliate parties are welcomed to attend the rallies that are scheduled to start on Saturday.
The expected visit comes after a number of postponements which political pundits attribute to the rising political supremacy battles between Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
The incumbent senator is battling out with Jubilee’s Simon Chelugui in the county’s senatorial race who is perceived to be fronted by Dp Ruto a move that is viewed to settle the ongoing political battles in the Rift between the Dp and Moi.
But in a confirmation that Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairman Gideon Moi is likely not to appear in the rallies, the aspirants led by Baringo gubernatorial aspirant Stanley Kiptis said the visit will be a Jubilee affair and other parties are not welcomed to the rallies.
“The visit by the president will be a Jubilee affair since you have not seen other affiliate parties in this meeting,” said Kiptis while addressing journalists after the strategy meeting.
Chelugui , Moi’s competitor is likely to benefit from endorsements that come in handy during such visits even as there have been rumors that the President and his Deputy will clash over who to endorse for the tough senatorial race.
Kiptis while urging the people of Baringo County to turn up in large numbers to welcome the President said the county is strongly a Jubilee zone.
“No one should think otherwise the county has shifted ground but we want to tell the country that this county is in Jubilee and fully behind the President and Deputy President, “said Kiptis.
Also present was Senatorial aspirant Simon Chelugui and Susan Chesiyna who is vying for Women Representative seat urged for sobriety during the visit.
“We don’t want a situation whereby leaders are heckled before the president, “said Chesiyna.
The president will tour Eldama Ravine, Mogotio, Baringo South and Tiaty sub constituencies.
