A section of Kericho residents under Jubilee caucus have accused Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter for saying that he will personally determine the next governor of Kericho County under the new Jubilee Party.

Addressing the press in a Kericho hotel led by Wesley Kiprotich said that the remarks made by Keter last Friday at Nyabangi Secondary School in Belgut constituency during a fundraiser was careless and reckless.

Kiprotich called on the energy CS to keep off Kericho politics and concentrate on lighting homes which is the duty of his docket.

Keter, while speaking in Kalenjin was quoted saying that he will personally determine the next governor of Kericho County. He had said that governor Paul Chepkwony was not taking the county to the right direction.

The caucus which represented all the six sub-counties in Kericho demanded to know if there are preferred candidates for the seats.

“What CS Keter said that he will be arranging the leadership of Kericho County is contradicting deputy president William Ruto’s sentiments that there will be democracy in the party,” said Reuben Too.

They defended Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony saying that he is in Jubilee to stay and no amount of intimidation will push him out.

“We are proud of the work which has been done by the governor and the people of Kericho will decide to re-elect him or not, but not an individual, “said Wesley Rotich.
