Baringo gubernatorial aspirant Isaac Chebon has said that he will increase the salaries for Early Child education (ECDE) teachers if elected as the governor. Speaking during his campaigns in Baringo North Sub County, Chebon said if elected as the second governor in the August general election he will ensure salary of ECDE teachers are increased

Baringo gubernatorial aspirant Isaac Chebon has said that he will increase the salaries for Early Child education (ECDE) teachers if elected as the governor.

Speaking during his campaigns in Baringo North Sub County, Chebon said if elected as the second governor in the August general election he will ensure salary of ECDE teachers are increased from what they are earning now.

“If elected as the governor I will increase the salary of ECDE teachers since what they are earning now doesn’t befit an ECDE teacher this will also come with other allowances. I will also improve the infrastructures of the early child hood learners, “said Chebon.

Chebon who is vying for the seat on a Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket will face off Jubilee’s candidate Stanley Kiptis  in the gubernatorial race which is a two horse race.

While appealing to the electorate to support his bid, Chebon who was accompanied by his deputy governor Lawrence Bomet added that the low paid county workers will get salary that are commensurate with their job description and academic qualifications.

He further revealed that other counties across the country pay their ECDE teachers well and he wondered why Baringo was undermining them yet they play a very crucial role in nurturing and mentoring the young generation.

Additionally, Chebon who is a former Director at Kenya School of Government, Kabarnet campus said that he will ensure that the academic staff within the county are empowered and equipped with the requisite training materials so as to foster education system in the region.

“Some of the teachers are diploma holders who receive remuneration which are not equivalent to their qualifications, my government will ensure the teachers get pay that are suiting the work they are doing, “added Chebon.

Moreover, his running mate Bomett reiterated by saying that the county has a potential of performing better academically but if only proper structures are put in place to see to it that all stakeholders are brought on board.

In Cheboi’s administration the teachers earning 7,000 shillings which was too low as compared to other counties within the North Rift region.
