Susan Chesiyna has been cleared by Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest for Baringo County Jubilee Women Representative seat on a Jubilee ticket.

Mrs .Chesiyna who was cleared yesterday by the electaoral body at the Kenya School of Government in Kabarnet said that if voted she will ensure that women and youth are empowered.

While addressing her hundreds of supporters who turned to celebrate her clearance at Kabarnet town said that she will put more focus on the youth who have been sidelined for long when it comes to life changing opportunities.

She further said that her major agenda is to transform the livelihoods of the people so that they can be economically empowered and sustain themselves rather than depending on the government to assist them in everything.

“The youth and the women of this county have been locked out for long and they have not tasted the fruits of devolution. That’s the main reason I decided to contest for this seat so that I can bring the much awaited change our people have been longing for” she stated.

At the same time she hinted that the previous county leadership did not favor the youth and the women folk who have been struggling so hard to make ends meet.

“There is no need for anyone to come here and seek for votes if their main interest is to enrich themselves yet the people are languishing in poverty” she added.

Mrs Chesiyna also stated that if given a chance she will fight for all women to get affirmative action fund which she says that the women of Baringo have not well been represented.

“There are a lot of opportunities for our people in this county and the country at large but a few people who want to satisfy only their selfish interests have been an hindrance to the fulfilment of that” said Chesiyna.

Chesiyna is the Jubilee party nominee after she managed to garner 45,000 votes followed closely by Grace Kiptui who got 28,000 votes.

She will be facing off with Gladwel Tungo (KANU) Cheboiwo Kaptuiya (Independent) Grace Kiptui (independent) Naomi Torono (CCM).
