The most affected areas of  in Ilchamus ward include Loropil, Sintaan, Ng’ambo, Labos and also some parts of Marigat ward.

One who lost his live is said to have been sleeping in his house before he was swept away with his house by flush floods. Another elderly woman is suspected to have been swept while heading home in the evening.

Confirming the four deaths, Baringo County Police Commandant Peter Ndung’u said that the four bodies have been preserved in Kabarnet county referral hospital mortuary.

The residents also lost unknown number of livestock to the raging floods following the prolonged rains that hit the areas.

Baringo county Deputy Governor Mathew Tuitoek whom emergency and disaster management lies in his office toured the affected areas and appealed to the National government to release emergency funds.

Ilchamus ward MCA Wesley Lekakimon appealed to the government to offer urgent solutions to the floods that has rendered thousands homeless.

He said said a large number of livestock have been swept by floods even as the rains bring more disastrous effects.

A looming disaster awaits the residents as waterborne diseases may spread.

Loropil primary school pupils may have nowhere to learn on Monday, all it’s classes are submerged. The situation is similar to that  in other 8 schools including Longewan, Salabani, Ng’ambo.

Chemolingot town was also not reachable as river Nginyang whose bridge was swept last year could not allow vehicles to cross.

Residents had to abandon their vehicles and wade through the water.

Residents complained that the government has failed to construct a bridge that would withstand the effects of floods.

Enterprising youth took advantage to ferry goods and help travellers cross the river with a fee before a chopper had to do several trips lifting attendants to a KANU rally in Chemolingot.
