Controversial Baringo County Assembly Speaker William Bill Kamket has told off Baringo ‘’flying‘’ legislators that sympathy will not guarantee their stay in leadership in the next general election .
He told the ‘’sky team’’ (Baringo lawmakers) that nothing in pretense should cheat them that they will be re-elected in 2017 because of their closeness with the Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking during Baringo thanksgiving prayers held in Kabarnet, Baringo County, he said reelection bid will be based on their performance in their constituencies not their support to the Deputy President.
‘’I urge you legislators to prepare well for a healthy competition in 2017. This will be a fight of men which will determine the right choice of leaders to lead this country. It will not be the choice of parties, but election of new crop of leaders advocating for change,’’ said Kamket.
The pro–KANU and Tiaty Constituency hopeful candidate roasted the section of MPs present at the thanksgiving mass for meddling with KANU affairs.
Baringo legislators present were Sammy Mwaita (Baringo Central) Grace Kipchoim (Baringo South ), Moses Lesonet (Eldama Ravine) William Cheptumo (Baringo North) and Grace Kiptui (Baringo County).
He advised them to remain committed to promises they made during their campaigns instead of engaging in empty rhetoric to citizens.
Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim and her Baringo North counterpart William Cheptumo who appeared angered with Kamket’s sentiments said Kamket’s cheap politics should not bother Jubilee politics.
Kipchoim alleged that the speaker is behind cases of insecurity in parts of Baringo.
The MP’s however distanced themselves from his sentiments and termed his comments as KANU propaganda aimed at intimidating Deputy President’s achievements.
Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi at the event thanked Kenyans for their unity in praying for Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
