​Baringo Deputy Governor Mathew Tuitoek has lauded County Pension Fund for donating 50 bags of maize to hunger stricken residents of Baringo.

Speaking while flagging off the contribution, Mr. Tuitoek said the donation has come in handy at the right time for the locals who are in dire need of support from affected areas.

He expressed commitment of the county government with County Pension Fund (CBF) and non-state actors in playing a crucial role of assisting the affected people in Baringo County and other counties.

The Deputy Governor reiterated that more people are likely to face hunger as situation continue to worsen in some areas in Baringo South and Tiaty constituencies.

Mr. Tuitoek noted that despite loss of livestock  , the county government and national government have already stepped up measures to arrest the situation by providing hay and enhancing take off programme in pastoralists areas.

‘‘ Baringo County government and national government will continue providing material support and food aid to locals .The national government through the Principal Secretary for water services in the Ministry of Water and Irrigation Mr. Fred Segor and county government has delivered water tanks for water storage during the drought season,’’ said Mr. Tuitoek.

He appealed the warring communities to restore peace in volatile areas of Tiaty and Baringo South borders.

County Pension Fund through Andrew Maiyo said the aid from his staff was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Mr. Maiyo added that affected counties through their corporate arm has so far donated food staff to Samburu, Kajiado and Baringo counties.
