An organization championing effective service delivery to citizens has decried on poor state of health and education in Baringo.

Center for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance (CEDGG) on Thursday noted that county had failed to involve the public participation with locals on county projects.

Speaking during the launch of social audit report, programs officer Evans Kibet Boss said lack of staff, implementation of projects and access to information led to poor service delivery.

Mr .Kibet told Rift News that county leaders according to locals were impediment towards access information .

He urged government to strengthen and embrace various mobilization strategies to enhance implementation of existing projects in the counties.

The program officer said CEDGG aims at detecting and preventing corruption by bringing on board social accountability through citizens to get value for their money through social audit reports.

CEDGG however stressed on the need to employ transparency and accountability in accomplishment of projects in county governments.

‘‘ Public Finance Management Act (2012), Freedom of Information Act (2015) and Ethics and Anti corruption Act are some of legislations targeted to assist citizens on transparency and accountability .We look forward to ensure that citizens get enough information to outdo disparities in counties.,’’ said the CEDGG official.

Mr. Kibet added that residents of Baringo needs to be sensitized on mechanisms to promote accountability in health and education sectors.

The centre urged the county governments to build a rapport with stakeholders in counties to enhance citizen participation .

‘‘ Counties need more mobilization and sensitization forums for the citizens to get awareness especially on devolution .Lack of information in marginalized areas like Tiaty has led to sorrow state of facilities. ,’’ the centre for enhancing Democracy highlighted in the report for eight counties in Baringo.
