Barsosio also lamented on the wanton destruction of forests in Elgeyo Marakwet County which is estimated to stand at over 34 percent and said to be one of the largest in the to country saying it is being depleted at an alarming rate.

He invited the CS to fly over the forests in Elgeyo Marakwet so as to witness for himself the bare land remaining which used to be thick forests.

The CEC said the county government is welcoming the move taken by Kenya Water Towers Agency to gazette Kaptagat forests to be among the water towers in the country.

He added that the county is ready to partner with the National govt in conservation efforts of Cherangany Water tower and Kaptagat water tower.
