Kenya Films and Classification Board chair Bishop Jackson Kosgei has urged Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to shelve his Senatorial ambitions and support Simon Chelugui.
Speaking on Saturday during a rally in Kabarnet to drum up support Jubilee aspirants in the county and the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta , Kosgey who was speaking in Kalenjin said Moi should give way to his competitor Chelugui be the senator .
“Ye kelenji arap murgor kipsirimbi eng Keiyo kotebi kotebi, Ye kelenji Towett eng Kipsigis kotebi kotebi ..kisome ra komuita …kole ii kisome ra komuita” which loosely translates when someone in other sub tribe of Kalenjins is told to forgo his ambitions he listens ….we are asking him to quit this time round ,”said Kosgei amid applause from the cheering crowd that had turned up for the Jubilee rally.
Bishop Kosgei said that they have pleaded enough with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to also appreciate the support he had been accorded earlier by supporting another son of the land for the sake of unity and they will in the long reciprocate by rewarding him with a plum job in government once Jubilee is re-elected.
He said it will not be business as usual for those who are hell-bent to derail a unity of purpose for the Kalenjin nation saying Gideon should be at the forefront in supporting other sons from the community as a show of gratitude for the invaluable support others have extended to him.
Kosgei further addressed Gideon on the need to avoid being used to cause or sow division at the behest of unknown political factors in the quest to retain his political relevance in Baringo and the country at large.
Moi was quoted in a past function answering his critics saying he is not out there to spoil for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 presidential race but the community will benefit if Ruto or him wins.
