Three troubled counties in the Rift are still facing insecurity despite the government enhancing security in the areas.
Reports of attacks by heavily armed bandits in parts of Baringo , Laikipia and Elgeyo Marakwet counties have been witnessed lately even after govt deployed security officers and installation of National Police reservists (NPR) in these rustling prone counties.

Operation dubbed ‘Operation Dumisha Amani Baringo’ is now entering the second week yet guns in these areas have not been silenced .
Moses Lomeluk a resident from Baringo south wondered why bandits are still terrorising residents even after government stepping security in these areas.
“Pokot bandits have become bold in their attacks even in the midst of the so called operation .They recently killed a resident harvesting honey in Tandar , Ngelecha . My message to Rift Valley coordinator Wanyama Musiambo to stop giving empty threats to bandits about deploying choppers yet his officers are doing little on the ground,” said Lomeluk.
But on Monday in Kabarnet , Riftvalley Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo said the ongoing operation in parts of Baringo County is bearing fruits.
“We have evicted illegal herders in Rugusin Baringo South after ten years ,two people have been arrested after being found carrying out surveillance in one of the police camps in the area and more than 20 schools re-opened after closure following attacks,”said Musiambo.
While speaking in Kipsaraman Deputy President William Ruto said he will visit the region every two weeks until cattle rustling and bandit attacks become a thing of the past.
“I don’t want any jokes. I would like to see every child, woman and man sleep in their houses in peace,” he said.
0ver 600 police officers have been deployed to the three counties and more than 400 Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) installed to bring to an end the banditry attacks in these regions.
