Baringo county assembly speaker William Kassait Kamket today was summoned by Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Kabarnet police station over allegation of involvement of supplying ammunition to bandits in Tiaty constituency.

Speaking after being grilled for more than three hours, Kamket said the allegations were false as he had never participated in issuance of ammunition to youth saying such allegations were aimed at assassinating his character as the election time beckons.

“I have to record a statement with DCI over intelligence reports that they are alleging that I supplied ammunitions to some boys in Tiaty constituency. Nobody has come to record a statement all they have is what they have is intelligence reports of which they can’t divulge sources of the information,” Said Kamket.

He alluded there was a scheme to spoil his name saying politics was at play by incumbent Tiaty member of parliament Asman Kamama  in his bid to wrest over the mantle for Tiaty parliamentary seat.

“I don’t know anything about those allegations since these allegations comes from my political competitor who is incumbent Member of Parliament for Tiaty ,” said the county assembly speaker who is vying for Tiaty Member of Parliament on KANU ticket.

He lamented that he has been subjected to frustrations since he became the Baringo county speaker adding that he will triumph over such allegations.

Kamket also called on the security agencies to expedite investigations so that allegations can be brought to end owing to the fact that elections are approaching.

On Churo-Amaya ward mca Thomas Minito disappearance, the county speaker called on relevant agencies to help trace and produce him as his disappearance was creating unnecessary anxiety in the county.
