The members of the clergy drawn from different denominations in Baringo converged in Kabarnet with the aim of selling a peace message just days to the general election slated for 8th August.

Addressing the press after holding a meeting in Kabarnet to deliberate on the coming  election, the members of the clergy representing all the churches in Baringo said residents in Baringo need to conduct themselves peacefully during this electioneering period.

They called on the youth to desist from any form of havoc that may threaten a peaceful  process on voting saying they should exercise their right to vote peacefully and allow the electoral body,IEBC to convey the outcome.

They said for long they’ve  been holding prayers and urged everyone to ensure civility in the way they conduct the elections even if the outcome will be unfavorable to them.

On voting, they challenged all eligible voters in Baringo to turn out in large numbers and elect leaders of their choice as a means of exercising their democratic rights.

Led by Bishop Daniel Chemon of Full gospel Churches of Kenya ,Baringo warned the youth from engaging in violence during and after the election saying they should  handle themselves in manner befitting peace ambassadors even as they called for a peaceful election to avoid the country slipping into anarchy orchestrated by selfish souls.

“No one chose to be born neither tribe he or she belong ,we should leave together as brothers and sisters despite our political affiliations. Let’s vote in peace and pray for this country,” said Chemon.

Rev. Paul Raimoi called on electorate to exercise their democratic right by voting the leaders they want and leave the announcement of winners by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“On election date let’s vote and retreat back to our homes as the election guidelines stipulates . We will have one winner after election and if anyone is unsatisfied let him or her go the courts not to use it to cause mayhem or demonstrations,”said Raimoi.
