Controversial Elgeyo Marakwet Assembly Speaker Albert Kochei has recorded statement with the police over alleged assault from a section of Members of the County Assembly.

Speaker Kochei claims MCAs from Elgeyo Marakwet on May 31 , assaulted him after chaos which ensued at the county assembly.

In the chaos, speaker Kochei was physically thrown out of the chambers following tussle over fate of the majority leader.

The rowdy MCAs interrupted proceedings of the house and destroyed the speaker’s official seat and pinched him.

The MCAs accused have termed speaker’s actions naive and unnecessary.
