Tension is high in Tot, Elgeyo Marakwet County after 3 people were killed and 20 houses torched down following fresh inter-clan clashes between the Kapseren and Kapsoi clans.

Confirming the incident the on phone , Elgeyo Marakwet Administration Police (AP) Commander Hezron Opiyo said two elderly men and a youth were killed in the fight and several  houses razed down.

“Two aged men and a middle aged man lost their lives in fight after the two clans living in Tot clashed resulting to the deaths.  Security has been deployed to the area to quell the rising tension in the area, “said Opiyo.

The AP commander warned that action will be taken to anyone who will be found to fan the fight among the two clans saying government is on high alert during this festive season.

“Anyone who will be found to have incited the clans against each other will face the full force of the law even as we head to Christmas season . I want to appeal to the locals to put their differences aside and live together in harmony, ” further added Opiyo.

The clashes comes barely two weeks after a peace meeting was held at Elgeyo Marakwet  Baringo County border to bring together the two warring communities by National and Integration commission (NCIC) and leaders.
