Speaking during the flagging off ceremony event at Kabarnet Equity branch , the Manager Mr. Micah Bett said over 12,488 pupils have benefited since the inception of the programme.
He said out of 26 pupils , 13 of them were selected from Kabarnet and 13 from Eldama Ravine branches for award of comprehensive secondary school scholarship following their superb Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results last year.
He lauded the community scholarship selection Board for unwavering support and commitment towards achieving the course.
Mr Bett reiterated that the Wings to Fly programme since inception has touched hundreds of needy families in their pursuit of excellence in life.
He mentioned elites from the area who have greatly benefited from the course saying most of them have secured positions in global universities courtesy of the foundation.
The Equity’s Wings to Fly has realized Anthony Roktok from Barwessa enroll in Toronto University in Canada after scoring a straight A in Kituro High School and Anthony Siloiy Bett from Kabargoge who is working for DELL EMC –Cloud computing Engineering after his studies in Harvard University.
Mr .Bett noted that the bank through the initiative is geared in investing in education especially those from the humble background.
He urged the beneficiaries to take responsibility which lies ahead by reciprocating with good performance in Kenya Certificate of Secondary and become the agents who can transform the society .
The manager however lauded the county government for assisting the needy students by awarding bursaries to those in secondary school and middle level colleges.
” We intend to work earnestly with the communities to support education through initiative like Wings to Fly.Our main agenda is to champion the socio-economic transformation of our people through our support ,’’ Mr. Bett said at the function.
County Chief officer Joseph Waiharo added that the county government will remain committed in ensuring education is uplifted in Baringo.
