Baringo Central Member of Parliament Sammy Mwaita has dispelled fears that there are irregularities over the modalities of Jubilee smart cards distribution saying the allegations are farfetched because a member will be registered only once.
Speaking on Sunday in Kabarnet , Mwaita said jubilee aspirants should not be fearful assuring them that party members who buy the smart cards will be registered saying the cards have a bar code that bears the name of the holder.
“The card was designed in a way where after a member buys the card he or she sends his or her name via SMS then the holder will be registered. Aspirants should not be scared since it is a digital card and the party constitution governs the process, “said Mwaita.
A section of Jubilee aspirants had raised concerns that some aspirants who are seen to have money are acquiring most number of the cards from the party headquarters, leaving them with nothing for their supporters.
Mwaita further said supporters will be registered only once and there are regulations that govern the issuance of the cards.
Jubilee party launched Jubilee smart card one week ago to register its members digitally. The card has a bar code for identification and the officers in charge during party nominations will use bar code readers to conduct the exercise.
Once the barcode has been scanned, it will be put into the system to ensure that each member votes only once.
