Locals have expressed dissatisfaction to Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi and his counterpart Baringo Central legislature Sammy Mwaita for meddling affairs of Baringo University location.

They have accused the duo for sabotaging efforts of the local professionals who have already arrived at final talks to locate the long awaited university in the area.

Baringo Changers through a demo staged on Wednesday, noted that the leaders have become a stumbling block towards efforts to establish the university.

Deputy President William Ruto last week announced at a fundraiser to aid Baringo women groups said that Baringo University be established in Baringo Technical College .

The demonstrating group in displeasure ,claimed that the two politicians misled the Deputy President instead of going by  what the professionals and residents had unanimously agreed.

Baringo Central residents has earlier agreed in Baringo Task force  that Baringo Teachers College be changed to a varsity having met CUE standards.

They said the task forwarded had come into conclusions that Moi Teachers College was the suitable location for the university.

The Baringo Change Makers chapter accused the leaders for being self centered and giving wide berth the interests of its people.

‘‘ We condemn this section of politicians for their sycophancy .The two leaders have only two choices of supporting their master or the people who elected them,’’ said  the  irate demonstrators.

They said  Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi and local Mp  Sammy Mwaita have  failed to safeguard the interests of the people and instead decided to sing the tune of the Deputy President ahead of Jubilee party nominations slated for next year.

They vowed to petition on the issue and advised the local politicians to keep off the affairs of the varsity.

Locals however  blamed them for being traitors and warned that Baringo Central is ready to work with fresh blood politicians who have the interests of the people at their heart .
