Baringo Central aspirant for Member of Parliament David Kerich has cautioned the government against discrimination in issuing Identity cards to the Nubian Community in Baringo saying no one should be denied constitution right.
Speaking yesterday during the launch of Jubilee smart card for Baringo central, Kerich said that the government should immediately issue the IDs to the community to allow them participate in the election adding that the most locals from the minority community in the county might be locked out in exercising their constitutional right if they don’t get Ids.
The Nairobi based lawyer has promised to give incumbent Member of Parliament Sammy Mwaita a run for his money.
‘’I want to assure you that nobody has been identified or preferred as a candidate for jubilee in the primaries.My supporters should keep off propaganda going round that his opponent has an upper hand ahead of nominations ,’’ Kerich assured locals.
Mr. Kerich noted it is high time people of Baringo Central should vote in new crop of leaders who can deliver to the people.
He further urged the government to provide relief foods to hunger stricken residents in drought prone areas of Baringo.
Mr Kerich blamed low turnout of locals in registering as voters saying due to hunger , most of the people have shunned the exercise to look for pasture and water for livestock.
Government through Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri distributed 5,000 bags of maize to hunger stricken residents of Pokot.
