The anticipated political temperature has just begun in Baringo County with list of gubernatorial aspirants getting undisputable.

Two aspirants have publicly announced their interest to gun for gubernatorial race in a bid for the incumbent Governor Mr. Benjamin Cheboi ouster.

The duo, Betting control and Licensing Board member Simon Kiprono Chelugui and Stanley Kiptis, the Kenya National Union of Teachers Executive Secretary Koibatek branch have both decided to give the governor a run for his money.

Mr. Simon Chelugui and Stanley Kiptis were trounced by the incumbent Governor for the top seat in 2013.

Both of them have stated their plans to take Baringo to a higher height in their early campaigns.

Mr. Chelugui in his campaigns has underscored Cheboi in development of Baringo County citing poor state health, rampant corruption and nepotism to fail the system.

 

‘‘ Baringo people deserve better health care just like other counties which have recorded improvement courtesy of devolution .We need topnotch leaders who will transform the quarter instead deserting it,’’ said Mr. Chelugui.


Chelugui has mentioned Machakos county as one of counties which has tremendously achieved in the health sector due to improved facilities courtesy of devolution.

He wondered how money allocated to Baringo are utilized yet no project

He decried meager salary of 6,500 earned by employed Early Childhood and Development (ECDE) saying it is a drop in the ocean.

Stanley Kiptis on the other hand has blamed the governor for lying low and failing to fight graft, which has affected Baringo.

He has claimed corruption within Baringo to have left elites a desperate lot since only close circles and relatives have gotten opportunities.

‘‘ We want a new crop of leaders who will bring sanity for the betterment of majority who have suffered at the helm of Governor Cheboi ,said Mr. Kiptis.

The duo spoke during fundraising to support school in Baringo North and Baringo South over the weekend .

Governor Cheboi in his sentiments has understated the two aspirants saying Baringo is among the most performing counties.

Mr. Cheboi blames the contestants for playing cheap politics instead of arriving at solutions for the ‘’failing’’ county.
