Kenya African National Union (KANU) Party Chairman Gideon Moi has called for dialogue that will lead to the reform of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Speaking today in Baringo County during a fundraiser to support Koimugul Primary school, Gideon Moi said that it is high time government should adhere to calls by opposition and churches to disband the body.

He said that IEBC should be disbanded before coming general election to facilitate free and fair elections.

“Kenyans will realize transparency if the body is disbanded before next elections. What we saw in Kericho was a total sham election and therefore dialogue between the government and opposing sides should take place,” said the senator.

He called on the need to fast track the reforms and overhaul of the system to assure Kenyans on IEBC credibility.

Moi said failure to sent the commissioners home will continue to build mistrust and lost confidence among Kenyans.

“It is suicidal to give the present body a mandate to oversee elections. The outcome of 2007/2008 was out of incredible body which failed to deliver to Kenyans thus we advocate for change of the body, ” added Senator Moi.

He further stated that the recent by- elections IEBC had shown complete bias in the way they conducted the  saying KANU was the biggest  victim of stolen elections.

Barwessa MCA Mr. Joseph Makilap asked the government to facilitate room for dialogue to salvage lost confidence  among Kenyans in IEBC.

KANU party is among the latest to push for disbandment of IEBC after Pressure from Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).

Last week KANU Secretary General Nick Salat joined CORD at Uhuru park to ask for disbandment of IEBC.
