A vehicle carrying Baringo County women representative, Grace Kiptui was yesterday involved In a tragic road accident that left her with injuries and killing her driver.
The accident occurred almost three hundred metres to Loruk town when she was trailing her colleague MP for Tiaty, Asman Kamama, Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi and speaker William Kamket who together were to attend an ordination of a church Bishop in Chemolingot in Tiaty.
Eye witnesses accounted that the vehicle Toyota land cruiser sustained a rear tyre burst that made it sway before rolling severally
“I heard a loud bang before the seeing the vehicle losing control veering off the road. It then rolled severally ,” said Nicholas Kipkurui.
The driver died on the spot, the MP was unstrapped by well wishers while she complained of chest pains. She was rushed to Mediheal hospital in Nakuru before being airlifted to Nairobi.
Other occupants of the vehicle were her bodyguard who sustained injuries and her personal assistant who escaped unhurt.
Members of parliament who arrived at the spot are member for Tiaty Asman Kamama and Turkana Southt’s Nikol Ngikor.
“We were heading to ordination of Bishop Joel Lopeta in Chemolingot Full Gospel Church when the MP got involved in the accident. It is so sad that we lost the driver who is young and vibrant following the accident,” said Tiaty MP Asman Kamama.
His counterpart, Nikol Ngiror regretted that many lives have been lost in black spot and urged the motorists to be more cautious when driving along the road.
The road is said to have claimed several lives making the point a black spots however it is now under construction.
