​TENSION HIGH IN KERIO VALLEY AFTER TWO PEOPLE WERE SHOT DEAD

Tension is high in Kerio valley,Kinyach after two people were shot dead on Sunday after Marakwet and Pokot communities living along the border clashed over grazing land and water for animals. The incident which happened as result of the ongoing drought left a mother of four and a man shot at the bridge connecting Baringo

Tension is high in Kerio valley,Kinyach after two people were shot dead on Sunday after Marakwet and Pokot communities living along the border clashed over grazing land and water for animals.

The incident which happened as result of the ongoing drought left a mother of four and a man shot at the bridge connecting Baringo and Keiyo counties sparking animosity as the community of markwet in a mission to revenge. 

Another middle aged man was also killed in the attack as the herders from Pokot community took their livestock to graze in the neighbouring constituency. 

Unknown number of livestock was also driven towards pokot after the attack 

Confirming the incident area chief of Kinyach location said that tension has been on the rise as communities fight for resources as drought continues to hit the area,further saying many livestock has died and others continue to emaciate.

He appealed to the national Government to intervene by providing grass and water to the residents to avoid the situation from worsening.
