Former Minister for East African Community Musa Sirma has shelved interests for Baringo County Senatorial seat to contest for Eldama Ravine Constituency seat.
Sirma who had shown interests of vying for senatorial seat told Rift News that his ambition had come in handy after realizing he had not fulfilled all promises when he was the area legislature also pressure from Eldama Ravine residents who told him to vie for the seat.
The former cabinet minister will face off with incumbent member of Parliament Moses Lesonnet , Baringo County Chief of Staff Mr. Nixon Mutai and Zakayo Tallam a former employee of Henry Kosgei has also declared his interest to give the duo a run for their money.
Mr. Sirma who had earlier received overwhelming support from the Deputy President blessing is giving the incumbent MP Moses Lesonnet a rough time.
Moses Lesonnet is among the jubilee MP’s who are rallying support from the Deputy President William Ruto.
Sources privy to Mr. Sirma’s decision comes amid strong opposition of Jubilee party from KANU which is dominating the region.
According to some opinion polls by local pollsters ,KANU Chairman Gideon Moi remains a favorite for the Senate seat.
