Two politicians were shot dead in a cold blood early Saturday morning by unidentified gunmen in a restaurant in Marigat town, Baringo County. 

The two politicians, Loyamorok Member of County Assembly Fredrick Kibet Cheretei and Tiaty Parliamentary aspirant Simion Kitambaa alias Pepe were killed at around 12.30 am by six gunmen who were hooded and heavily armed with guns.

It is said that the gunmen entered the popular T junction and Bar restaurant along Marigat -Kabarnet road starting to shoot in air to disperse hundreds of revellers ordering them to lie down before singling out the two in one the shades shooting them at a close range .
Kitambaa who is also the board Chair of National Council for Population and Devolopement and was eying Tiaty member of parliament seat on a jubilee ticket was in company of the Mca and five others who were left unhurt. 

Kibet’s Toyota Rav 4 vehicle was also torched by the gunmen.

Confirming the incident Baringo County police commander Peter Ndung’u termed the attack a normal crime saying the police have started investigation to ascertain the motive of the attack and bring to book the perpetrators of the crime. 

“At around midnight the gunmen raided the joint armed with guns and pangas where they shot the politicians killing the two on the spot. We have commenced investigations why the two politicians from Tiaty were killed and also arrest the criminals behind the killings ,”said Ndung’u. 

He also appealed to the locals to remain calm as the police are carrying out investigations. 

Currently tension remains high in the town after killings as police are guarding the crime scene.
