A family in Missori, Baringo county is counting losses after a suspected leopard mauled over 16 sheep yesterday night. 

The animal which is believed to have attacked the village on Monday night killed 16 sheep injuring other four belonging to Wilson Lewatachum. 

Mr. Lewatachum said the leopard has caused panic in the area that has forced them guard their animals in the night to avert more losses.  

He said the livestock were his only hope for school fees and his family to enjoy Christmas. 

“I don’t know what to do now since I was depending on school fees and also to allow my family enjoy this festivity. 

“Every night I have to sleep here so that the leopard can’t feast on my livestock it is better even for animal to feast on me than on my animals, “Jackson Olewatachum father to Wilson desperately said. 

He warned if the government will not net the leopard they will launch a hunt for the wild animal. 

“We are demanding the Kenya Wild life Service (KWS) to immediately search for the rogue animal failure to which they will kill the animal, ” said Ole Watachum.  

He further told KWS to compensate him for the loss that has robbed them source of livelihood.
