NAIROBI, KENYA: Wednesday, August 17, 2016 – By elections for Mosiro (Kajiado West Constituency, Kajiado County), Sala (Bura Constituency, Tana River County), Nyacheki (Bobasi Constituency, Kisii County) and Kalokol (Turkana Central Constituency, Turkana County) Members of County Assembly (MCA) will be held on Wednesday, 26th October, 2016.

Aspirants wishing to contest as independent candidates should submit their symbols to the Commission by 5th September, 2016. Political parties wishing to participate in the by-elections must finalize their nominations (party primaries) and determine any intra- party disputes arising from party nominations by the 11th September, 2016.

The submission of the list and details of the political party nominated candidates and independent candidates to the Commission shall be on 19th September, 2016. Aspirants will be required to deliver nomination papers to respective Returning Officers on 26th and 27th September, 2016. The campaign period shall commence on 26th September, 2016 and cease on 24th October, 2016.

The seats fell vacant following the deaths of the incumbents on various dates between April and August 2016.
