Church leaders have come out strongly to condemn the deportation and mishandling of activist Miguna Miguna by the government agents.
This comes as Christians across the country congregated in various churches for Good Friday to mark the end of fasting and commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary.
In Eldoret , congregants of AIC Fellowship and the Eldoret catholic church cathedral observed Good Friday with processions carrying the cross and church service.
Father Timothy Kiplagat of the Eldoret Catholic church said that claims by the immigration department that Miguna Miguna is not a Kenyan citizen are misleading because he was cleared and qualified as any other Kenyan citizen to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the previous elections.
” I still wonder why the government mishandled Miguna yet the same government cleared him to run Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the last elections. It was wrong for the government, “said Kiplagat.
Rev Tom Nyawanga of AIC church Fellowship Annex said the mishandling of Miguna Miguna at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport portrayed the government in a negative picture internationally.
“As a country our image is tainted after forcefully deporting the NRM leader to Dubai in manner which was inhuman and unacceptable since he was a Kenyan,” added Rev Nyawanga.
The two church leaders asked Kenyan political leaders to unite and stop endless bickering that affects development and causes disunity amongst Kenyans.
“It is our humble appeal to all political leaders to become one so that the electorate can get development,” further added Nyawanga.
They also urged Christians to remain focused and demonstrate Jesus love in their actions.
Christians across globe congregated in churches to commemorate the death of Jesus which is famously known as ‘Good Friday’.
