Supremacy battle between the ruling Jubilee party and National Super Alliance (Nasa) over the control of Rift Valley votes intensified after current and former members of parliament in the region joined the opposition campaign team.

The more than 10 Mps led by Chesumei MP Elijah Lagat and former Mosop legislature David Koech launched Nasa  campaign caravan in Eldoret in a region perceived to be Jubilee’s stronghold.

The move comes a head of Nasa presidential flag bearer Raila visit to the region for a series of rallies to consolidate support three weeks to the general election.

Raila is expected to tour Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Nandi, and Trans Nzoia among other counties two weeks after the tour of jubilee party in the zone.

The former legislatures vowed to launch door to door campaign to eat into the Jubilee share accusing the government of neglecting the region in terms of development projects.

“The official launch of the NASA presidential caravan will market the coalition’s manifesto that clearly brings hope to all Kenyans. We urge residents to embrace change and vote for Raila who will transform the economy,” added Koech.

He added that residents of North –Rift especially farmers are supporting Nasa due its good manifesto factoring in the needs of farmers as opposed to Jubilee.

Former Emgwen member of parliament ambassador Stephen Tarus said that farmers from the region are fade up with Jubilee as it has failed to advocate for the rights of farmers in the region.

“It is only in the agenda of NASA manifesto that challenges facing farmers in the North Rift and other issues facing the ordinary Kenyans will be addressed. Our opponents in JP have dismissed this manifesto, yet it comes with solutions faced by citizens at the grassroots level,” said Tarus.

They expressed confidence that NASA would carry the day in the next general election
